A Facebook and Twitter page has been launched (@LastXmas2017) to drive support for the single as fans want to commemorate one year since George Michael’s untimely death on Christmas Day 2016.
According to NME Magazine, Wham’s Last Christmas is “tipped to top the singles charts” with odds being “slashed” by most bookies.
Speaking about the betting activity to NME, Betway’s Alan Alger said, “We’ve seen some interesting early money for Wham! to be this year’s Christmas No.1 and have had to cut our offering from 11/4 to 4/6.
“Considering we don’t know which tunes will be launched ahead of the festive season, 4/6 is a short price and could get even shorter as we approach the festive countdown”, he added.
This year’s Official Christmas Number one will be announced on Friday, 22nd of December.
