Niall Horan is worth a massive €17 million – adding €11 million to his fortune in the last year
And One Direction together are worth a phenomenal €84 million, the Sunday Times Rich List has revealed.
The Mullingar singer’s fortune has rocketed due to income from the band’s latest world tour, DVD and merchandise sales and big-money endorsement deals.
Rich List editor Ian Coxon said: “The group performed 136 shows in 78 cities in 2013, which generated box office revenues of $114 million. They played to total audiences of just under 1.5million people.
“They’ve had top-selling albums, sell-out tours, DVDs, a book and they have even endorsed a perfume. There hasn’t been another boyband who have made so much money so quickly.
“Whether they will carry on at the same rate is anybody’s guess. It is difficult for a boyband to sustain success and the chances of them staying together in the long-term are slim… It is whether or not they can continue to attract crowds and wider audiences.”
U2: Still the richest entertainers in Ireland
However One Direction are still behind U2 in the income stakes, who are Ireland’s richest entertainers with €516 million fortune.
But the Dubliners are down €111 million due to former manager Paul McGuinness jumping ship from the U2 family.
