Mark Feehily ditching Westlife sound for R&B on upcoming solo album

Westlife star Mark Feehily is ditching his former band’s safe sound – and reinventing himself as an Irish version of Seal.

The Sligo singer has taken on an R&B sound for his debut record, which he has been working on in the studio.

The 33-year-old has roped in A1’s Ben Adams to help, and recorded two tracks with Mark.

“I’ve done two tracks with Mark and I think people will be really surprised. It’s a bit like Seal,” he told the Daily Star Sunday.

Since Westlife’s split, Mark has been relatively quiet since their final Croke Park unlike his bandmates.

But he hopes that perfecting an album before signed a deal will push him to the top.

He has been also been working with Kylie Minogue collaborator Steve Anderson.

Last week, Mark insisted he is still planning on working in the music industry after Westlife’s split two years ago.

Asked his goal for life now, Mark said: “To continue to make music, I want to be proud of each and every thing I do from this moment on regardless of chart positions.

“But in saying that, I’m driven and want to be successful too, so those two things combined would be the goal!”
