Lily Allen cancels U.S. shows after falling ill and receiving ‘devastating’ family news

Lily Allen was forced to cancel several of her U.S. shows after she fell ill and received “devastating” family news.

The singer was set to perform in Chicago and Minneapolis this week, but pulled out of the shows last minute after she told fans that her vocal chords and throat were inflamed.

“Hello everybody I’m very sad to say I’ve hand to cancel my Chicago show tonight and my Minneapolis show tomorrow due to my sickness,” she told fans in a short video.

“We are working on rescheduling both shows so I will get back to you with news about those… I’m just really really sorry, but this is unavoidable, I’ve been battling it for two weeks.”

The video came after Lily tweeted: “I am really quite sick, and I’ve just had some truly devastating news. Can you trolls just allow me for today ? Thanks I’m (sic) advance.”

When asked by a fan if she was feeling okay, she responded: “Not really. I can’t speak and I’m very shaken up by news from back home.”

The tweets have since been deleted.
