Imelda May hits back at claims Bono helped her through her marriage split

Imelda May has admitted she joked with Bono, following reports he helped her through her marriage split.

The singer, who separated from husband and bandmate Darrel Higham last year, opened up about her new album and how Bono acted as a mentor as she wrote her new release.

Speaking on the Ray D’Arcy Show on RTE Radio 1, the Dubliner insisted reports about the U2 frontman helping her through her love split were far fetched.

“I texted Bono and said, ‘They’re about a column away from saying Bono was the cause of Imelda’s break-up’,” she said.

“Apparently he mentored me through my marriage break-up. He didn’t.”
