Imelda May gets her own show – an Irish version of Later… With Jools Holland

RTE has commissioned an Irish version of Later… With Jools Holland, which is hosted by Imelda May.

The Dubliner hosted a once off version of the Imelda May Show in March, which was a hit with viewers.

Now Montrose have decided to commission a full series of the show, which will promote new music like its BBC counterpart.

It is expected that the Imelda May Show will continue to go out on RTE One on Sunday.

Bosses revealed the Rockabilly singer’s show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience.

A spokeswoman said: “The show will feature chat and live performances from legendary musicians and brand new acts from Ireland and around the world.”

It will also link in with the Ronan Collins Show on RTE Radio 1.

Previously Imelda, 39, admitted she never wanted to be in front of the camera but couldn’t resist emulating Jools.

She said: “I have absolutely no longing or ambitions to be a TV presenter but when I heard about this music show I was very interested.

“Other Voices is terrific but only runs for a short period of time.

“There are so many great bands in Ireland that need a platform to get out there. And, of course, Jools Holland gave me my break on his TV show.”
