Glastonbury Festival announce headline act for next year’s event

Billie Eilish will headline the 2022 Glastonbury Festival, event organisers have confirmed.

The 19-year-old will make history as the youngest ever solo headliner at the popular event, which takes place in Pilton, Somerset, England.

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis confirmed the news on Twitter on Monday, writing: “We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous Billie Eilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year’s Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history.”

“This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!” she added.

Last year, the festival was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary but it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 line-up included stars such as Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Sir Paul McCartney, and Diana Ross.

This year, the festival hosted a five-hour livestream event featuring acts including Coldplay, Haim, and Jorja Smith.

Glastonbury 2022 is scheduled to take place from June 22 to June 26, and tickets are sold out.

Billie made her Glastonbury debut in 2019, when she performed songs such as Bad Guy and Bury a Friend on the Other Stage.
