Fans come together to help Terry Wogan’s hit song reach Christmas number one

They want to bring back the presenter's classic hit The Floral Dance

Fans have come together to help Terry Wogan’s Christmas hit reach number one in the charts.

The Limerick native passed away this year after a long battle with cancer and was honoured last week at BBC’s Children In Need special.

A Facebook page has been set up by the late presenter’s fans and their aim to bring his classic hit, The Floral, back for the festive season.

Recorded in 1978, it was a surprising chart hit when it reached number 21 in the UK charts at the time.

Now the Facebook page, titled Campaign To Get Terry’s The Floral Dance To This Year’s Official Christmas Number One Song, has been set up to urge people this year to try and ensure the late singer claims the top spot.

They are urging fans to download The Floral Dance this year from mid December when the official Christmas charts are compiled.

Terry famously sang his hit song on Top Of The Pops in the late 70s.
