Danny O'Reilly: 'I always wanted The Coronas to be the biggest band in the world'

The Coronas have revealed they have always wanted to be the “biggest band in the world”.

But frontman Danny O’Reilly admits that it won’t be coming any time soon – and just feel happy to have played Oxegen.

“It’s funny, you know, because we were discussing this recently about ambitions, the goalposts change a lot,” he said.

“We started off saying to ourselves, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing if we got to play Oxegen?’ That was our main ambition because we grew up going to it.

“So as you go your ambitions change – when we started off we didn’t have a grand plan but we always had a little blind optimism, like, we could be the biggest band in the world.

“But I’m a lead singer and that’s just my ego talking, but I don’t think we thought about that sort of stuff in length, we just wanted to go with the flow.”

And Danny told the Star that their delay in bringing out new music was because he didn’t want to “rush” their upcoming album – which they are so far calling The Long Way.
