Cheryl releases brand new single about her ex

She's back - and she's throwing some serious shade!

Cheryl has released her brand new single ‘Let You’, and she appears to be throwing some serious shade at a former lover.

In the song’s lyrics, the 35-year-old accuses an unnamed partner of taking advantage of her, before reminding them: “You only got with this, because I let you.”

In the accompanying music video, Cheryl can be seen having arguments with a man in the street, and performing some impressive choreography with a troupe of dancers.

After releasing her new single at midnight on Friday, fans started speculating about who the song is aimed at.

In the past, Cheryl has been married to footballer Ashley Cole, and French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

But most recently, the songstress dated One Direction star Liam Payne for two years, and the couple welcomed a son together.

Before the song’s release, Cheryl confirmed that it’s about a past relationship.

She told Fault magazine: “I’ve made mistakes in relationships. I’ve been with men who were controlling, who made me unhappy, but I allowed it to happen.

“That’s what this song is about. You have to recognise it and you have to try and not let it happen again.”
