Brian McFadden insists that he saved Westlife by leaving in 2004

Brian McFadden has insisted that leaving Westlife in 2004 inspired his bandmates to stop taking things for granted.

The singer devastated fans by leaving the band in 2004, however, Brian says that had he not left – Westlife wouldn’t have continued performing as a band for a further eight years.

“If we had been given a break, it might have been different but when I look back now everything happens for a reason.

“None of the other guys were enjoying it at that stage. They hated it. But when I left, they all got scared with this feeling, how long is it going to last?” he told the Irish Sun.

“They ended up appreciating what they had again and they started to love it again. They got eight years of something they were taking for granted,” he said.

Since leaving Westlife, Brian embarked on solo career – but has most recently teamed up with Boyzone star Keith Duffy to create Boyzlife.

While the Boyzlife duo have seen great success touring around a number of European hotels over the course of a few months, 2016 has been a great year for Brian personally as well.

The 36-year-old recently confirmed his romance with new girlfriend Danielle Parkinson, after splitting from model Vogue Williams last year after three years of marriage.

Brian was introduced to Danielle by singer Cole Paige, and the pair have been inseparable ever since as they divide their time between Dublin, London and Danielle’s home in Lancashire.

“This has been one of the best years of my life really. Everything in general, my work, my private life, it’s been great,” Brian said.
