Boyzone toured too quickly after Stephen Gately's death

Boyzone have admitted they shouldn’t have toured so soon after bandmate Stephen Gately died.

The Dubliners went back on the road in 2011 – two years after Steo died from an undiagnosed heart condition.

But Mikey Graham said they should have stayed away from the tour as they hadn’t dealt with their grief.

He said: “It was too early for us to go out. I don’t think we were emotionally stable enough to go out on that tour.

“We hadn’t really gone through the grieving process enough. We hadn’t received counselling or the stuff that we should have done for such a great loss.

“And I think that tour kind of brought an awful lot of that out in each one of us. We missed him so much… it was too early.”

Without Steo: Boyzone now

But speaking on This Morning, Keith Duffy said their new BZ20 tour feels right now – although they will never forget Stephen.

He said: “It feels better now. The first time out was always going to be difficult.

“Getting the timing of that right was always going to be difficult, so we got that tough part out of the way and our more recent tour was fantastic – we still talk about Steo on tour.”
