Bob Geldof has admitted “personally enjoys” how much criticism is being thrown at the new Band Aid track.

Music superstars including Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Sinead O’Connor and Bono re-recorded the legendary hit Do They Know It’s Christmas to mark the 30th anniversary.

All of the single’s proceeds going towards fighting Ebola but Bob has still been facing criticism from fans.

“It creates this debate. People find it very hard to understand that I love the level of criticism. I personally enjoy it” he told BBC Newsbeat.

Bob blasted critics of the charity record, insisting: “It’s a pop song, it’s not a doctoral thesis.”

It’s not the first time the track has been criticised with singer and Band Aid 30 member Emeli Sandé publicly slamming the lyrics.

The songstress said she wanted Bob and the gang to re-write the song completely.
