Top 10: Hozier has shot towards top of the US charts

It means he has the honour of having the second highest charting debut album in 2014 for a new artist in the Billboard charts.

He was stopped from getting to the top spot by country star Jason Aldean and his album Old Boots, New Dirt.

Across the world, Hozier also went to No 2 in the Canadian Album Chart at No 2, No 3 in the Belgian Album Chart at No 3 and UK Album Chart at No 5.

Now his manager Caroline Downey Desmond has insisted that he could become bigger than U2, after initially just hoping for him to go top 10.

The MCD boss said: “I think he can be as big as U2. Until now he’s only had one single out in America but the album will tell.”

Already, Hozier has managed to get famous fans including Taylor Swift after his massive rise to fame.
