Watch: Love/Hate's Charlie Murphy stars as kickass royal in new Viking movie

Love/Hate star Charlie Murphy is set for major international success as she stars in a new Viking movie.

The TV star appears in Northmen: A Viking Saga alongside Australian actor Ryan Kwanten, and is allowed to show off her fighting spirit.

The 26-year-old – who is one of the only women in the cast – was also given the chance to brandish weapons on set.

“I got to play with crossbows and do lots of stunts, it was great craic,” she said.

The film tells the story of a group of ninth-century Vikings who are en route to Britain with plans to steal from  the rich monasteries.

But when their ship is smashed to pieces in a storm, they end up on the coast of Scotland – the only part of Britain without any Viking settlements.

It then sees them kidnapping Charlie, who plays daughter of the Scottish King Dunchaid, in a bid to make money from ransom.

Northmen: A Viking Saga will have its world premiere in Germany on October 9, before being seen in cinemas across Europe and hopefully America.
