WATCH: Full trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice teases callback dance scene

The full trailer for the sequel to Beetlejuice dropped on Thursday, July 18.

The trailer includes Winona Ryder’s Lydia chanting the famous “Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!” line to summon him before admitting she needs his help to rescue her daughter, Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega.

“How do I know you’re gonna keep your word?” Lydia asks Beetlejuice, still mistrusting him after over three decades.

“I swear on my dead mother’s soul,” he tells her dramatically while on fire.

The rest of the trailer gives glimpses at both new and callback moments.

A dance sequence between Astrid and Delia Deetz (Catherine O’Hara) is teased, and more about Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux’s characters are revealed.

The trailer ends with a wedding scene, much like how the first film features a wedding near the conclusion, this time, with a more modern twist.

“Thank you all for coming to this special occasion, but right now, I’d like a little privacy,” Beetlejuice tells the people gathered in the pews inside the church.

However, everyone’s faces begin to wrap out of shape before they are sucked into their phones.

Per a synopsis, “an unexpected family tragedy brings three generations of the Deetz family back to Winter River, Connecticut, where Beetlejuice was last awakened. It’s Lydia who discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic, and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.”

“With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem,” the synopsis adds.

Astrid is also seen standing up to mean girls at the beginning of the new trailer and admitting to a friend that Lydia Deetz is, in fact, her mother.

“She’s weird, but in a different way and not in the way you’d assume,” Jenna told Vanity Fair of her character in February.

Returning star O’Hara, 70, told PEOPLE the previous month that “it was just so crazy and thrilling, really, to just be face-to-face with Beetlejuice” again, 35 years after the first movie.

“Beetlejuice has aged very well.” she joked.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will hit cinemas on September 6th, 2024.
