Toy Company Mattel issues apology for mistakingly printing link to porn website on Wicked doll packaging

Toy Company Mattel has issued an apology for mistakingly printing a link to a porn website on the packaging of a new Wicked doll.

The company, known for creating the Barbie dolls, has ensured the are taking “immediate action” to fix the mistake.

Over the weekend, people began sharing online that the dolls for the upcoming movie musical had a link to wicked.com, instead of wickedmovie.com on the packaging.

Mattel released a statement on Sunday addressing the mistake and advising parents that they throw the packaging away.

The statement read: “Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page.”

“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this.”

“Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.”

They added: “Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel customer service for further information.”

The mistake affected dolls sold in Target, Kohls and Amazon, but not other retailers.

The toy is no longer available on Amazon and has been removed from shelves.

Wicked Movie

Wicked is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz which sees Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) slowly become the wicked witch as she seeks to expose the fraudulent, corrupt Wizard who rules the land with Ariana Grande playing Glinda the Good Witch.

The film’s second instalment is set to arrive on December 25, 2025.
