Saoirse Ronan feels 'really lucky' when hunk Ryan Gosling emails her

Saoirse Ronan has revealed that Ryan Gosling plays hard at getting in touch with – and is awful at responding to his emails.

The Carlow actress starred in the Hollywood star’s directorial debut Lost River, and felt “really lucky” when she eventually got a reply.

She said: “I have his email. He never emails anyone back. He’s so bad at emailing back, but he did email me the other day. I felt really lucky to receive his words.”

The 20-year-old also starred alongside Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes and Matt Smith in the flick – although it panned when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year.

Now the ‘magical-realist film’, where a teenager discovers a secret underwater town, is only being given a limited cinema release in America as a result.

But Saoirse said: “He’s very excited about it. II don’t think I can say anything about it yet, but people will get to see it sooner rather than later.

“And the poster is really cool for it. Go and see it for the poster alone.”

It comes as critics are already claiming Saoirse is in the running for an Oscar for new Irish film Brooklyn – which she waited for a long time to do.

She said: “I was waiting for the right Irish project to come along with the right Irish character.

“I didn’t want it to be the stereotypical Irish film. I’ve been offered a few of those and I haven’t felt like they were special enough.

“It wasn’t f**king set on a farm and it wasn’t about the troubles in the North. We’ve seen that, we’ve done that.”
