Gay Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan has told of his shock at being proposed to in Australia – by women.
The Dublin comedian – who plays Mrs Brown’s gay son in the TV show – had to tell them that he probably wouldn’t be for them.
“In Australia if they see you, they grab you and they want to sit down with you. I got two marriage proposals from two women in Australia,” he told the Irish Mirror.
“We were in Sydney and one girl said, ‘Can I have your hand?’, I thought she just wanted to shake my hand.

“But she got down on one knee and she said she wanted to propose marriage to me.
“I said to her, ‘Dear, have you seen the show? What I’m doing is not the Stanislavski school of method acting, I’m actually playing a part that is pretty close to me’.
“She said, ‘I understand that but I really think the two of us could be very happy together’.” I had to say, ‘I’m sorry but that wouldn’t be for me’.”
