Michael Fassbender: ‘I don’t set out to play sex symbols’

Michael Fassbender has admitted that he doesn’t set out to play sex symbols in films.

The actor has starred in many steamy roles in films like Shame and 300 but he’s also starred in more tender roles, like his latest film to hit theatres, The Light Between Oceans

“I don’t set out to play sex symbols. It seems absurd,” he said about the label.

Speaking about the label, Michael was told that his X-Men character Magneto is considered to a sex symbol

“Oh really? I thought he was a maniac but alright,” he replied, in very Irish fashion, to the Yahoo reporter.

“If that’s what people are into, then that’s cool.”

The actor was joined in the interview by actress Marion Cotillard, who stars in his newest film Assassin’s Creed, and he revealed one of the actress’ unladylike habits – her flatulence.

When asked about each other’s shameful secrets, Michael was sure to jump in first, “Your flatulence – but were not going to talk about that. That wouldn’t be right.”

Marion took it on the chin and laughed as the 39-year-old outed her secret, “Please, let me be a glamorous actress.”

The Kerry man did his best to save her anymore embarrassment and said, “We all fart, let’s face it.”

Assassin’s Creed hits Irish cinemas nationwide on January 1st, 2017.
