Man accused of STEALING Frances McDormand’s Oscar to stand trial

The man who stole Frances McDormand’s Oscar has been ordered to stand trial for theft.

Terry Bryant was seen trying to leave the award ceremony with the actress’ Oscar but was stopped by a staff member who thought he was acting suspiciously.

A photographer took a picture of the accused with the Oscar and Bryant informed staff he had won the award for Best Producer for the film Get Out.

Cesario Tio, a worker for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, knew that ‘Best Producer’ was not an award and took the Oscar from the accused.

The 47-year-old then argued that he was holding the statuette for a friend, according to the staff member who gave the Oscar to a member of security.

Judge Hanasono heard that the actress did not want Terry Bryant to be prosecuted and she did not attend yesterday’s hearing.

The hearing mainly focused on the price of the Oscar as it cost the academy between $2,300 and $2,500 to purchase, but it would be considered priceless by most winners.

Frances McDormand won the award for Best Actress in ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ in March.

Terry Bryant is due to be arraigned on August 8th and has been released until then.
