Laura Dern in talks to join Little Women cast

The first on-screen adaption of the famous novel was in 1917

Big Little Lies’ actress, Laura Dern, is in talks for the latest on-screen adaption of Little Women.

The actress is set to join the star-studded cast of Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh and Timothee Chalamet.

The remake will be directed by Lady Bird’s Greta Gerwig, who previously worked with Saoirse and Thimothee on the indie film.

Little Women follows the story of a mother and her four daughters, Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg, during the American civil war as they grow up, experience new things and spend Christmas without their father.

Amy Pascal, Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord are set to produce the on-screen adaption of the famous novel, while Andrea Giannetti will oversee the production for Columbia Pictures.

Laura Dern was recently nominated for an Emmy award for her role in The Tale.

The actress is also preparing for the second season of Big Little Lies which will co-star Meryl.
