Jennifer Saunders rules out Absolutely Fabulous sequel

The actress claims that it's over

Jennifer Saunders has ruled out an Absolutely Fabulous sequel, and admitted she won’t be returning to the series at all.

The actress stars as Edina in the BBC series, and reprised her role as the extravagant PR guru in this year’s film adaption.

“I’m not doing anything more with Ab Fab. That’s it,” she said about returning for a sequel.

Despite the film being a box office hit and the comedian previously saying she would star in another film, Jennifer has revealed she has no interest in returning and wants to spend her free time with her family.

“That. Is. It. I can’t see the point of doing anything else with it, really,” she told the Daily Mail.

“It just takes so long. There’s lots of other stuff I’d like to do. Plus I’d like to spend time with my grandchildren.

“So, if I did Ab Fab as well that would just stop me doing anything new, or thinking of any other ideas or having a different job or whatever.”

When it was suggested that Absolutely Fabulous could be coming back as a musical, the 58-year-old shut the idea down.

“We’d be so old. This is like taking geriatrics out now,” she explained.

“I don’t know how long I can say to Julia [Sawalha, who played played Edina’s long-suffering daughter, Saffy], ‘Can you come back and would you wear those awful clothes again?”
