He's made it! Jack Reynor becomes Ireland's first billion dollar film star

Irish actor Jack Reynor will certainly be celebrating today after his first international movie Transformers 4 has taken in over $1 billion.

The Wicklow native, who starred in What Richard Did, is the first Irish actor to appear in a movie that has made such a large profit.

Transformers: Age of Extinction became the first film this year to pass $1 billion at the global box office.

The Michael Bay film got a huge boost after breaking records in China, earning $300 million there.

Actor Liam Neeson is the second actor to star in a hugely profitable movie, with Star Wars The Pnantom Menace taking in $983 million (€728 million).

And things are only getting better for Jack.

As well as starring in new Irish film Glassland alongside Toni Colette, he will be seen in the movie version of Macbeth later this year with Michael Fassbender.

Jack is also linked to a new Casey Affleck film about the true story of baseball player Josh Hamilton.
