Ellen offers praise for Colin Farrell's marriage equality speech – as she shares it with 38 MILLION people

Colin Farrell has been given support from US chat show host Ellen De Generes after he weighed in on the marriage equality debate.

The Hollywood star discussed his views on gay marriage on Monday night on Claire Byrne Live.

And compelled by his honesty Ellen – who has been married to her wife Portia DeRossi since 2008 – decided to share his interview to her 38 million Twitter followers.

She posted: “Colin Farrell explains his support for marriage equality in a beautiful way. I couldn’t have said it better myself.”

Chatting on the first Claire Byrne Live show, the Total Recall actor articulately spoke about the struggles his brother Eamonn faced growing up gay in Ireland.

Sharing an account of the homophobic abuse his brother went through, the actor has been by his brother’s side when he when he married Steven Mannion in Canada where he now resides.

Chatting to the RTE show, Colin revealed that he feels it is “grossly unfair” his brother couldn’t get married in Ireland.

“To see them every day live their lives as a happily married couple is an amazing thing, and to think that they had to leave their own country to do that, is sad and disappointing and just grossly unfair I feel.”
