Ed Sheeran has landed a role in the next Star Wars movie.

According to The Sun, the singer will play a stormtrooper in Episode IX, and will star alongside Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega.

They’ve been filming scenes for the movie at Pinewood Studios since August – and the film is set for release next December.

This actually isn’t Ed’s first acting role, as he previously played a soldier in Game of Thrones, and made an appearance in Bridget Jones’s Baby, as well as popular Aussie soap Home And Away.

A host of famous faces have secretly starred as stormtroopers in the Star Wars film franchise.

Back in 2015, Simon Pegg revealed that Daniel Craig played one of the soldiers in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It was also reported that Prince William and Prince Harry disguised themselves as stormtroopers for 2017’s The Last Jedi – but John Boyega later revealed that their scenes didn’t make the final cut.

However, it’s believed stars like Tom Hardy and Gary Barlow managed to keep their cameos in the film.
