Domhnall Gleeson tipped for Oscar nomination – for role in Angelina Jolie's new film

Domhnall Gleeson has joined his father and been tipped to bag an Oscar nomination next year.

The Dublin actor has been tipped to get a nod for Best Supporting Actor for his role in upcoming film Unbroken.

Popular US website Indiewire.com have said that he is a “strong contender” to be listed by Oscar selectors.

In the film – which is directed by Angelina Jolie – the 31-year-old plays a prisoner of war in the WWII-set flick.

Other tipped contenders include Logan Lerman for Fury, Benicio Del Toro for Inherent Vice, and John Brolin for Inherent Vice.

It comes after his dad Brendan has been rumoured to get an Oscar nomination for Calvary.

Domhnall has previously starred in films such as About Time and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 – and is now filming a role in the new Star Wars film.

The 2015 Oscars ceremony is set to take place on February 22.
