Disney release trailer for Artemis Fowl – starring two Irish teenagers

The trailer has FINALLY been released

Disney have finally released the new trailer for Artemis Fowl, which stars two Irish teenagers – Ferdia Shaw from Kilkenny, and Lara McDonnell from Dublin.

Ferdia plays the film’s protagonist Artemis, while Lara takes on the role of elf hero Captain Holly Short.

Artemis Fowl is based on Irish author Eoin Colfer’s fantasy books, and the film’s script was adapted by Irish playwright Conor McPherson.

The live-action adaptation will be based on the first and second instalments of the books, and will see Artemis Fowl II, a young Irish criminal mastermind, kidnap the fairy LEPrecon officer Holly Short for ransom to fund the search for his missing father.

The popular book series has over twenty instalments, and has been translated into forty four languages.

Other actors in the film include Josh Gad and Judi Dench.

The film, which is being directed by Kenneth Branagh, will be released on August 9, 2019.
