Cameron Diaz is coming out of retirement

Cameron Diaz has come out of retirement to star in new film ‘Back In Action’ alongside Jamie Foxx.

In 2018, the actress announced she was taking a step back from the big screen after a lengthy career which put her name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 49-year-old is best known for starring in ‘Charlie’s Angels’, and ‘The Holiday’, as well as notably voicing Princess Fiona in the ‘Shrek’ franchise.

Jamie teased the news of the new film on Twitter, sharing a phone call he and Cameron had, in which she admitted she was feeling “so anxious” yet “excited” about her return to acting.

In the recording, the actor asked Cameron could he add American footballer Tom Brady to the call, who told the actress: “I was talking to Jamie and he said you need a few tips on how to un-retire?”

“I’m relatively successful at un-retiring,” he joked. Cameron replied: “Honestly, exactly what I needed.”

Jamie captioned the recording: “Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm.”

The 54-year-old announced production for ‘Back In Action’ will begin later this year.

Cameron and Jamie have worked on multiple projects together including ‘Any Given Sunday’, and the ‘Annie’ remake, which was the actress’ final role before she retired.

The plot of the film is “being kept under wraps”, however, Netflix have revealed it will be an action-comedy film.
