Britain's Got Talent star Ryan O'Shaughnessy goes back to acting in new Irish movie

He rose to fame thanks to a performance of his own song No Name on Britain’s Got Talent.

But now Irish singer-songwriter Ryan O’Shaughnessy is turning back to acting in new Irish-made movie Poison Pen, where he plays rapper Piers.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh, Ryan, 21, said he hadn’t thought about acting since his Fair City days.

“I went in and read for the role, and the next day I was filming the opening scene. It was a tight turnaround.

“I hadn’t really thought about acting for a while, but when it came around I thought I may as well do it,” he said.

“It was really fun. It was really interesting to see an idea turn into something really great.

“I’ve been acting since I was eight, so it’s always going to be there, it’s always going to be apart of me,” he explained.

But fear not Ryan fans, the singer is currently working on his second album.

The Dublin star said he hopes to collaborate with Irish singers for the new record.

“Right now I’m recording and still mixing my new album. I’ll be working with Gavin James, there’s some great Irish singer-songwriters at the minute.

“I’m trying to get involved with all of them and see what happens.

“I might try find loads of different female writers and singers and collaborate with them and do like a collab album. That would be really cool,” he said.

“I’m back home living with my family, it’s nice for the summer, I’m having a bit of a break.”
