Allen Leech leads Irish nominations at Screen Actor's Guild Awards

Irish actor Allen Leech leads the nominations for the 2015 Sreen Actor’s Guild Awards.

The Downton Abbey star is nominated in two ensemble cast categories for his role as Tom Branson in the ITV series and  for starring opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley in The Imitation Game.

The Dubliner previously revealed he maybe leaving Downton Abbey following the Christmas special however he also hinted he may make a return.

“I think if he does leave, Tom will be leaving under his own steam and he won’t be dead so it doesn’t mean that he’s leaving forever,” he said.

The 33-year-old’s career is continuing to go from strength to strength with his recent nominations and his new starring role in Hunter’s Prayer opposite Avatar star Sam Worthington which he is currently filming.

CALVARY starring Brendan Gleeson

Snubbed: Brendan Gleeson received no SAG Award nominations

Meanwhile, despite winning the award for Best Actor  at the British Independant Film Awards for his role in Calvary, Brendan Gleeson was snubbed by SAG and received no award nominations.

Other stars nominated for the prestigious awards include Jake Gyllenhaal, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore.

The SAG Award ceremony will take place on January 25th.
