Aidan Turner ruled out as the next James Bond

Aidan Turner’s show, Poldark, has been given a third series and the Dublin native will reprise his role as the title character, Ross Poldark.

The Irish actor was rumoured to become the next James Bond, but unfortunately he would have had to leave the BBC show to become 007 – and he wasn’t willing to do that.

“Poldark is a passion project for all of us, and it’s with real excitement that we prepare for both the launch of series two and our return to Cornwall to shoot series three,” the production managing director, Damien Timmer, revealed to the BBC.

Scything: Poldark fans all of a sudden loved the outdoors after this scene | BBC

We won’t be seeing the 33-year-old swapping 18th century attire for a clean, crisp suit just yet, but it is exciting news for Poldark fans.

The popular period drama was one of the most talked about shows of 2015, perhaps because of Aidan’s topless scything scene.

The 10-part series will begin filming in Cornwall later this year.
