Zac Efron to play infamous serial killer Ted Bundy in new thriller

Zac Efron is set to play notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in a new film.

The former Disney star will play the infamous murderer in upcoming psychological thriller Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which will be told from the perspective of Ted Bundy’s long-term girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer.

The killer’s girlfriend initially denied accusations against her boyfriend, but eventually turned him in to authorities.

Speaking to Deadline, producer Michael Costigan said, “Zac is perfect casting.”

“He can play both the depth and the charm that this guy had in equal measures, and which allowed him to manipulate these women in such a terrifying way.”

Ted confessed to killing more than 30 women in the 1970s, but his actual number of victims is expected to be much higher.

The serial killer, who was described as handsome and charismatic by many of his victims, was eventually executed in 1989 after being convicted of killing a 12-year-old and two Florida State University sorority sisters.
