WATCH: Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle releases first trailer – and fans are divided

After much anticipation, the first trailer for Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle has arrived.

Fan reactions are so far divided about the modern reboot, which is an extremely long way from the beloved 1995 classic starring Robin Williams but looks set to bring some laughs.

The clip starts with a group of high schoolers – a jock, a popular girl, a shy girl and a nerd – who start playing an old video game in detention.

What they don’t realise is they are about to get sucked into the game and transform into their characters, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan.

The premise provides plenty of comedy, with the nerd morphing into The Rock and telling himself not to cry, and the popular girl freaking out after becoming Jack Black.

And as promised the movie does address Karen’s controversially tiny outfit. Her character complains, “Why am I wearing half a shirt and short shorts in the jungle?”

The clip is full of action scenes including encounters with wild animals, explosions and a treacherous helicopter ride, and it ends with Jack almost being swallowed by a hippo.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle will be released in December. Watch the trailer below:
