The two men arrested by Chicago Police regarding Jussie Smollett’s attack have been released without charges.

Anthony Guglielmi, Chief Communications Officer for Chicago Police, announced the news on Twitter.

He wrote: “Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”

The two men were arrested on Wednesday night, and a spokesperson for the Chicago Police has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that it was the same two individuals who were captured on surveillance video.

It’s believed officers questioned Jussie once again about the attack on Thursday.

The news comes after the Empire star gave his first television interview since the attack on Good Morning America.
