Titanic and Aliens star Bill Paxton has died aged 61

Actor Bill Paxton died on Saturday at the age of 61.

“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” a family representative said in a statement.

“A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker.”

Bill was perhaps best known for his roles in Titanic and Aliens, and also starred in the HBO series Big Love.

His other credits included Apollo 13, The Terminator, Weird Science and True Lies and he completed filming on upcoming movie The Circle before his untimely death.

Hollywood was mourning the death of the talented actor, who is survived by wife Louise Newbury and their two children James (also an actor) and Lydia, as TMZ broke the tragic news on Sunday morning.

“Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man…” Tom Hanks, who recently filmed The Circle alongside the late actor, shared on Twitter.

“You were a great friend to me, Bill. AND one of the finest actors to share a set with. Sending so much love to Bill Paxton’s family,” Charlize Theron wrote, while George Takei said that he was “so saddened by this loss,” and h.

Bill’s Terminator co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger added, “Bill Paxton could play any role, but he was best at being Bill – a great human being with a huge heart. My thoughts are with his family.”
