TikTok star Charli D’Amelio ‘hires police protection’ after online threat

The teenager has 75 million followers on the video sharing platform

Charli D’Amelio has reportedly hired police protection, after receiving a scary threat online.

The 16-year-old, who has a whopping 75 million followers on TikTok, hired round-the-clock security after someone claimed they were going to show up at her house on July 8.

No one showed up at her house in the end, but TMZ has reported that the police are investigating the incident.

Charli and her family are now paying to have police officers surveil their property for the foreseeable future.

The teenager has also been victim to “swatting” calls over the past few months.

This is when a person deceives an emergency service into sending a response team to another person’s address – and is considered a harassment tactic.

Ariana Grande has been ‘swatted’ multiple times, and back in March, someone called 911 to report a phony shooting at the singer’s home in Los Angeles.

Police officers were sent to investigate the report, but once they arrived they realised the 911 call was a hoax.
