Thousands sign petition to have Kanye West removed as a headline act at Coachella

Over 28,000 people have signed a petition to have Kanye West removed as a headline act at this year’s Coachella.

The 44-year-old was announced as a headliner back in January, alongside Harry Styles and Billie Eilish.

But since then, the rapper has hit headlines for all the wrong reasons as he’s launched a number of scathing social media attacks on his ex Kim Kardashian, and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Kanye’s shocking behaviour has sparked the creation of a Change.org petition, titled ‘Remove Kanye from Coachella!’

The petition was launched last week by a user named Caramello Marie.

In the description, they wrote: “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now.”

“No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well. Most recently, he has been threatening actual bodily harm on others.”

“This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this. Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform. Please sign & share!”

Just last month, Kanye threatened to drop out of the festival after he accused Billie Eilish of dissing his pal Travis Scott.

In February, a video emerged of the pop singer stopping her concert in Atlanta to locate an inhaler for a distressed fan in the audience.

In the clip, the 20-year-old said: “Do we have an inhaler? Can we just grab one? Guys, give it some time. Don’t crowd… We’re taking care of our people, hold on. I wait for people to be OK until I keep going.”

Although Billie didn’t mention Travis’ name, many believed she was “dissing” the rapper over the tragedy that occurred at his Astroworld Festival last year.

10 people between the ages of nine and 27 were killed following a crowd crush at his concert in Houston, Texas on November 5, which also left hundreds injured.

The Goosebumps singer is now facing multiple lawsuits from family members of the deceased, and fans that were injured.

After spotting the video of Billie on social media, Kanye took to Instagram to demand an apology from the 20-year-old.

The 44-year-old wrote: “Come on Billie we love you. Please apologize to Trav and to the families of the people who lost their lives.”

“No one intended this to happen. Trav didn’t have any idea of what was happening when he was on stage and was very hurt by what happened.”

Kanye then claimed Travis will join him at Coachella in April, despite the fact he was pulled from the lineup in December after fans threatened to boycott the festival.

He added: “And yes. Trav will be with me at Coachella but now I need Billie to apologize before I perform.”

In response to Kanye’s post, Billie insisted she wasn’t taking a pop at Travis.

The 20-year-old replied: “Literally never said a thing about Travis. Was just helping a fan.”

Amid calls for Kanye to be dropped from the Coachella line-up, Variety has reported that the 44-year-old has been barred from performing at the 2022 Grammy Awards because of his “concerning online behavior”.

The Blast was first to report the news on Friday, which was later confirmed by one of Kanye’s representatives.
