Thomas Markle allegedly “made up” the story about him undergoing heart surgery, in order to avoid the Royal wedding.
Back in May, Meghan Markle’s father pulled out of his daughter’s wedding at the last minute due to issues with his health – but sources have since claimed that it was all a sham.
A source close to the Duchess of Sussex told DailyMail.com, “The whole story about Meghan’s father undergoing heart surgery was made up.”
“He had to come up with a good enough reason not to attend her wedding and avoid any further embarrassment after those staged photos went public.”
During Thomas’ recent interview on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the 73-year-old said he had a stent fitted at the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center.
However, when DailyMail.com contacted the hospital for confirmation, they claimed that “no such name” had ever checked into the hospital.
The source continued, “The poor health story was his way of generating some compassion from the public, and taking the attention off those staged photos which were a complete embarrassment to Meghan and the royal family.”
“Of course Meghan is upset with him. Her father missed her wedding. He missed walking her down the isle all because of that ill-conceived publicity stunt.
“It was really just such poor judgement on his part. Now everyone’s feeling sorry for him. They shouldn’t.
“He brought this upon himself and if he were truly sick Meghan would have made an effort to visit him. Don’t feel sorry for him. If anything, feel sorry for Meghan,” they added.
Just days before Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry, The Mail on Sunday revealed that Thomas had staged photos with a British paparazzi photographer.
Then at the last minute, Thomas suddenly pulled out of the wedding over alleged fears for his health.
Earlier this week, Thomas told TMZ that he won’t stop doing press interviews until Meghan contacts him.
The retired lighting director has claimed that he hasn’t heard from his daughter in two months.
Following Thomas’ interview with TMZ, Meghan’s outspoken half-sister Samantha lashed out at her on Twitter, and said that Meghan would be to blame if their father dies.Â
