Stars took a subtle stand against Donald Trump on the Oscars red carpet

A-listers took a stand against Donald Trump and his immigration policies at the Oscars on Sunday.

Celebrities were seen walking the red carpet with pale blue ribbons pinned to their glamorous outfits to show their support for ACLU.

Ruth Negga, who is nominated in the Best Actress category for Loving, was among those wearing the ribbon, which stood out against her stunning red gown.

Lin-Manuel Miranda also showed his support, as did his date for the evening – his mother.

The Hamilton creator is nominated for Best Original Song for Moana’s How Far I’ll Go, and he introduced Auli’i Cravalho’s performance of the track with a rap.

Meanwhile Karlie Kloss and Moonlight director Barry Jenkins were among the other attendees spotted with a blue ribbon.

The ACLU’s mission is “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States”.

Emma Stone was standing up for Planned Parenthood during the evening, with a PPACT pin attached to her golden dress.

The star is favourite to win Best Actress at this year’s Oscars for her role in La La Land.
