Sofia Vergara defends Ellen DeGeneres – after chat show host was slammed for ‘mocking her accent’

The chat show host has come under fire in recent months

Sofia Vergara has defended Ellen DeGeneres, after the chat show host was slammed for “mocking” the actress’ accent.

In recent weeks, clips of Sofia’s appearances on The Ellen Show have resurfaced online, amid rumours surrounding Ellen’s behaviour.

Ellen was branded “racist” over the footage, as she appeared to mock the fact that Sofia has such a strong Columbian accent.

But taking to Twitter on Friday night, Sofia shared a video of one of her interviews with Ellen, and wrote: “Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain.”

“I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke,” she added.

The chat show host has faced a lot of backlash in recent months, as a number of her current and former staff members have alleged they were subjected to a “toxic work environment” while working on the show.

The controversy sparked an internal investigation by WarnerMedia, which resulted in the firing of her show’s top producers – Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman.
