Selena Gomez has broken her silence, following Demi Lovato’s near-fatal drug overdose back in July.

The songstress was rushed to hospital after allegedly overdosing on a bad batch of Oxycodone, which was laced with fentanyl, and she is now seeking treatment in rehab.

After Demi’s overdose hit headlines, many of her famous friends took to social media to wish her well – but Demi’s long-time pal Selena was noticeably silent.

Speaking out for the first time since Demi was rushed to hospital, Selena told Elle magazine, “All I’m saying is, I reached out personally.”

She continued: “I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I…I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven. So…it’s…that’s what I’ll say.”

Demi and Selena have known each other since 2002, when they both starred on Barney and Friends.

Demi has struggled with addiction and an eating disorder for years.

Back in March, the singer celebrated six years of sobriety, however, just three months later – Demi admitted to fans that she had relapsed by releasing a song called ‘Sober’.
