Sean Penn has sparked controversy with his latest comments about the #MeToo movement.
The actor claimed that the movement has divided men and women.
“I think it’s too black and white. Most things that are very important, it’s really good to just slow down,” the 58-year-old told NBC’s Today show.
Sean also stated that he was “suspicious” of some of the claims that have emerged and described the movement as “a series of many individual accusers, victims, accusations — some of which are unfounded.”
This isn’t the first time the actor has made negative comments towards the movement as he previously told The Guardian that it was “not intellectually honest.”
Many people have taken to Twitter to show their disgust in the actor’s comments.
It’s kind of funny that Sean Penn believes women talking about men assaulting them “divides men and women” as opposed to the assaulting itself

Sean Penn . . . why should any woman listen to him? I don’t.

Another privileged male celebrity telling women how we ought to react to systematic abuse, bullying, and exclusion by his buddies. Bravo Sean Penn, you have shown your true colours, middle aged mediocre white man. https://t.co/ha0OzWKT5t
