Rupert Sanders has commented on his affair with Kristen Stewart almost five years later.
The director’s marriage to Liberty Ross ended after he was photographed in a steamy clinch with the actress, who was starring in his film Snow White and the Huntsman.
When asked about what he learned from the scandal, he said, “You never know what’s coming in life. Around every corner there’s something unexpected, and that’s life.
“You just have to brush yourself off and continue moving forward the best you can. Everyone makes mistakes. I am bound to make more mistakes, and I wouldn’t expect my life to be exciting if I didn’t.”

And Rupert revealed the affair didn’t hurt his career, adding, “If you took people off the table for a momentary lapse, there would be no one making art.”
Although the 46-year-old did not return for the movie’s sequel (and neither did Kristen), he directed the just-released Ghost in the Shell movie starring Scarlett Johansson.
Rupert had been married to model Liberty for 10 years at the time of the affair, and they share two children together.
She filed for divorce six months after the photos surfaced and the divorce was finalised in 2014.
Meanwhile Kristen was in a long-term relationship with Robert Pattinson and they ended their romance after news of the affair leaked.
