Robert Downey Jr. has paid tribute to his filmmaker father following his death.
Robert Downey Sr. passed away on Wednesday, July 7 at the age of 85 following a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Taking to Instagram to pay tribute to his dad, his 56-year-old son wrote: “RIP Bob D. Sr. 1936-2021…”

“According to my stepmoms calculations, they were happily married for just over 2000 years. Rosemary Rogers-Downey, you are a saint, and our thoughts and prayers are with you,” the actor added.
Robert Downey Sr wed his wife Rosemary in 1998, and was the father of Robert Downey Jr and his sister Allyson – who he shared with his ex-wife, the late Elsie Ford.
