Pete Davidson has revealed that he and Ariana Grande bonded because they were both “in a similar situation”.

The comedian was a guest on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Monday, where he opened up about his relationship with fiancée Ariana Grande.

Not long before he started dating Ariana earlier this year, the pair had both come out of long-term relationships – Pete had split from Cazzie David, and Ariana has split from Mac Miller.

“Timing, I feel like, is everything and we both were in a similar situation at the same time,” Pete said.

Howard replied: “You’re both broken up…with people. You had dated Larry David’s daughter for two years, a serious relationship. You broke up for whatever reason. She was with that guy Mac Miller and you both break up.”

Pete then explained that the splits happened “pretty much at the same time.”

Ariana and Pete first met when she hosted Saturday Night Live in 2016, but then the pair reconnected earlier this year – thanks to Ariana’s long-time manager Scooter Braun.

“Booking my career and wife!” Pete joked. “No, he was like ya know…I was down in the dumps and he came and visited me at SNL.”

Pete, who suffers from borderline personality disorder added, “It was a rough time. It was an assortment of things, an assortment of s**t I would say…It was a s**tty pie I was eating.”

“With you, the s**t pie can come on fierce,” Howard replied. “You think that’s part of your disorder? That everything just feels like the world is spinning?”

Pete responded, “Everything feels so extreme, dude. Like it’s the most extreme or the least extreme.”

When asked, “Are you worried in a relationship with a woman that your extreme mood could destroy the relationship?” Pete replied, “I just think some people are meant to be together and some people aren’t, even if they are good people or not.”

“Some people just aren’t good in relationships together. And I just think she’s… we’re supposed to be together.”

Pete joked: “Before we started dating, I literally like went through a list, I scrolled through a list of really hot guys on the internet and I was like, ‘Wait a minute, are you sure?’ Like here’s all of One Direction, I was like you sure? I was like this guy? Alright. OK cool.”

The 24-year-old also revealed that he quit social media because he received a death threat over his relationship with the pop singer.

“I got a death threat,” Pete said. “Someone wanted to shoot me in the face because she’s so hot. Do you know how insane that is?

“I was like, ‘Am I that ugly that people want to shoot me in the face?’ They’re like, ‘No, fuck this guy’; I’m like, ‘What did I do?’”
