The rapper compared herself to the late Princess

Nicki Minaj has revealed that her new album is inspired by Princess Diana.

The rapper took to her Instagram to announce the release of her new album titled ‘Queen’, and used a clip from Princess Diana’s  BBC interview in 1997.

The famous interview saw Diana open up about her marriage to Prince Charles and peoples perception of her as a threatening woman.

Nicki wrote on her post, “8|10|18 #Queen THE ALBUM ~ It’s the strength that causes the confusion & fear. Why is she strong? Where does she get it from? Where is she going to use it? #WhyDoThePublicStillSupportHer God bless this woman’s legacy & every woman who’s ever felt like this.”

In the video shared by Nicki, Princess Diana is asked why she thinks some people see her as a threat, to which she replies “I think very strong woman in history had to walk down a similar path. It’s the strength. That causes the confusion and the fear.”

The Grammy award-winning rapper likened herself to Princess Diana, in that they are both strong women.

She ended the post saying, “God Bless this woman’s legacy and every woman who’s ever felt like this #QUEENDIANA.”

Her upcoming album was set to released on the 15th of June but she has delayed it’s release until the 10th of August.
