Naya Rivera’s son Josey ‘doing better every day’ since the tragic death of his mother

Naya Rivera’s son Josey is reportedly “doing better every day” following the tragic death of his mother.

Naya was declared missing on the 8th of July, after the 4-year-old was found alone on a rental boat on Lake Peru in California – with his mother no where to be found.

The actress’ body was found on the 13th of July, with the autopsy report ruling her death as an “accidental drowning”.

One month since her body was recovered, her son Josey reportedly “very strong” and “doing better every day”.

The 4-year-old is currently living full-time with his father, Ryan Dorsey, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“Ryan’s whole world is Josey right now,” a source told the publication, “Ryan is still grieving and is very much struggling with the loss of Naya, but he stays strong and keeps going for the sake of his son.”

“Ryan would do anything for Josey. Right now, he’s really laying low and staying out of the public eye so he can completely focus on Josey and try to figure out how to navigate this new normal.”

“Josey is a very strong boy and Naya would be very proud of him,” the insider added.

During a press conference, Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said officials believe Naya and her son Josey were swimming in the lake on July 8th when they got caught in a current.

They believe Naya managed to save her son by getting him back on the boat, but sadly she “couldn’t save herself”.

In an emotional Instagram post, Naya’s ex-husband Ryan thanked the Glee star for giving them the “sweetest and kindest boy.”

“This is so unfair,” he wrote, “There’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts.”

“I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it. You were just here… We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn’t fair.”

“I don’t know what to say…I’m thankful for our times and our journey that brought us together and gave us the sweetest and kindest smart little boy we could ever hope for.”

“Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us. He’ll never forget where he came from. We miss you. We will always love you.”
