Miley Cyrus has fuelled a theory about Britney Spears, by shouting “Free Britney” while on stage at the Beale Street Music Festival in Tennessee on Saturday.
While singing her hit song ‘Party in the U.S.A.’, Miley shouted “Free Britney!” into the mic, when she was supposed to be singing the lyrics, “And a Britney song was on.”
#FreeBritney started trending on social media recently, as Britney’s fans grew concerned about her well-being, after she checked into a mental health facility.
A group of fans even staged a protest in Hollywood last month, and called for her to be released from the facility.
Although the singer checked into rehab herself, fans believe Britney is being kept from making her own decisions, because she has been under a conservatorship since 2008, after she suffered a breakdown in 2007.
However, Britney took to Instagram herself to address speculation, and reassured her fans that all is well.
The singer has since checked out of rehab.
