Meghan Markle and Prince Harry secretly got married three days before their wedding.
The couple sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview which aired on CBS in the US on Sunday night.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed they were married for three days before they wed in front of the world on May 19, 2018.
Meghan told the US chat show host: “Three days before our wedding, we got married. No one knows that.”
“We called the Archbishop and we just said, look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world. But we want our union between us, so the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury.”
Harry added: “Yeah, just the three of us.”
Meghan also opened up about her decision to share details about her and Harry’s private life in the bombshell interview.
The former Suits star said: “As an adult who lived a really independent life, to then go into this construct that is different then I think what people imagine it to be.”
“It’s really liberating to be able to have the right and the privilege, in some ways, to be able to say, ‘Yes, I’m ready to talk.’ To be able to just make a choice on your own and just be able to speak for yourself.”
Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child together, their son Archie, in May 2019.
On Valentine’s Day, the couple announced they are expecting their second child, revealing in the interview that they are expecting a baby girl.
